The Hangover set in like a dark ominous cloud over the Spicy Harlot’s VIP patrons. Celine greets the heroes’ headaches with the disturbing news that it is time for them to make a hasty exit out the back as members of the town have learned their part in the destruction of the arena and have come to “discuss” things. Time to go for sure…
Alera stands next to Jeric, who is gently holding her hand. The group shares a snarky smirk among them. Santos, does a bit of praying and The Light covers them in a warm glow and they are now stronger, stealthier and ready to walk into some sort of ineveitable trap. As they make their way through the town, they are not greeted with smiles. The tension is palpable. Headed straight to the warehouse where Norin is thought to be being held hostage and dangling above a portal. I’m sure this will go well.
Outside the warehouse, the group begins to devise a plan for the search and rescue mission that lies ahead. The Cleric lays more powerful spells on the Heroes knowing that what lies behind those walls is going to be something dangerous, perhaps unlike anything they have met before. The Dwarf and Ape-Formed Gnome plan to barge through the front door to greet the inevitable Demon(s) and the rest prepare to be dimension hopped through the wall to catch their first glimpse inside at what awaits them. Unfortunately, the second they arrive inside, they are greeted with total darkness. Slender, tall winged creatures encircled in flame come up out of the portal and the group braces for the ensuing battle. The demons telepathically tell the group they mean them no harm and Santos approaches the dwarf in attempt to rescue him unspoiled. The portal swells, as Jeric unhooks the dwarf’s cuffs with his magic. He falls, being clutched by Santos but he can’t hold. Suddenly, from above sticky webs come raining down on them, sticking to some and missing the more dexterous members. Here come giant spiders from above. Five of them to be precise. Ax lights them up while entangled in their web but the fire may not do much as they seem to be from the portal. Great. Demon Spiders. Bradek bursts from his web by sheer strength. The heroes deal little damage on their first pass and the Spiders retaliate with ferocious attacks. The Golden Saviors are in serious peril. Taran wails on one of the spiders and when they spar back, they deal serious damage to all of their armor. They even rip the wing off of one of the demons whose telepathic screams send shudders to everyone in the fray. An absolute epic slaughtering by Taran and his blades ensues as he hacks away at the now paralyzed Spider. Santos then tries to banish them all with a powerful spell. Two instantly vanish. The huge one facing Jeric and Cesa remains and the other also vanishes. Both Demons also disappear in a huge glow of white light screaming “YOU FOOLS! He’ll Kill us allllllll!” Bradek then gets to wail on the remaining spider and for some reason, he is able to hack its limbs piece by piece, bewildering the others. Ax unleashes his famous magic missiles and annihilates the spider who falls dead onto its back. Then dissolves into a puddle. Now, it was time to seal the portal before more fiends from Hell started to pour out of it again. Darious pleads his case to enter the portal and face the evil once and for all. As the clock ticks, the argument escalates and Bradeck enters the portal. “Noooooo!” screams Taran, and Santos follows Bradek and Darious into the abyss. ..
Ax goes as well to Taran’s disbelief. Followed by Cesa and Jeric. Taran rolls his eyes and angrily runs behind them into the darkness. The Gnome in Ape form goes along too, leaving Dioge behind to tend to the corpse of Norin.
HELL….Burning and uncomfortable the Heroes find themselves facing the two demons from before who tell them to stay and fight Adramalech. Realizing that he must remain behind and shut the portal once and for all, Darious knocks Santos out and pleads to the group to go back and allow him to seal the portal himself. A final sacrifice for sure as a swarm of demons descended upon him and his Light. The end of Darious came to pass. The Heroes come crashing back through the portal with an unconscious Santos. They now have been to Hell and back.
Norin is revived, again and expresses his gratitude and condolences. He urges the group to head to Magehelm but the group has plans to head to Juab to deal with Falconcrest’s orders and perhaps clean up other issues. They decide to head to Juab via monstrous bats. Once they land, they see what they assume to be the House Of Ill Repute ahead and are reminded of their task set for them by Falconcrest. A huge Giant stands guard and greets them with sternness, demanding to see an invitation. Their Wyldshire Emissary runes do nothing and Santos declares his true self. The Giant goes to report this info to his master, returns and requests all of their names. Taran, knowing this is a dangerous place for him, chooses an alias. It is clear the Giant is not buying it but he lets them pass into the opulent, fanciful world of the Yorokobi Hōmu anyhow…
The House is full of beautiful and haunting people and decor. A place that promises to fulfill all of your wildest dreams, but Taran issues warnings that only nightmares lie ahead if they stay too long or succumb to any of their offers. Unfortunately, some are hypnotized and led to their fantasy bedrooms; passing out under what is no doubt some enchantment. Santos and Cesa are unaffected by the spell leaving Santos able to leave his secured room. He wanders into the room where Jeric is pleading with his red headed wanna-be girlfriend to sleep with him. It was awkward.
Jeric and Cesa attend breakfast where the Duskblade, now alert and seemingly averting the spell, ignores the food. Taran appears to be stripped of his armored shirt and that seems unreal. When greeted by one of the creepy porcelain-esque girls she instructs him to come with her to meet The Master. Ax is snapped out of it by Jeric’s suggestion. Standing all together in a hallway, they are led to the Master.
