Located in Southern Majeria in the nation of Essencia, this stronghold houses an unknown number of the world’s remaining Rogue Mages. It was built from scratch by The Second after his retreat from the battle in the Holy Lands. Five years after The Cleansing began, The Second made his presence known and unveiled Magehelm. He extended an invitation to any Mage willing to travel there for safe haven.
The citadel is basically impenetrable. The entire structure is encased in a wall of pure Essence. Crafted spells have no effect on it and weapons, even magical, bounce off it harmlessly. Military strategists surmise a powerful Mage could pass through the shell but the theory has not been tested. It is doubtful any Mage in servitude would do so willingly (or otherwise) as they universally hold Magehelm in great reverence. Enough potent divine magic could counteract the wall but this is also just a theory. Aside from some attempts when Magehelm first surfaced, the world at large was content to leave The Second and his traitorous lot sequestered away in their own personal prison. The call to storm the place quickly subsided when the Mages shut the gates behind them.
There are those who still hold the events of The Mage Rebellion close at hand. For these people, Magehlem is a constant reminder of the Mage’s treachery – a blight upon the land. They keep constant vigil watching over it in fear of the day when its denizens should stir once more. Some of these “Watchers” claim that day is already upon Majeria, noting strange activity in the area. Unable to substantiate the reports, their warnings fall on deaf ears thus far…
